Hong Kong banks will continue to be governed by Hong Kong laws, regulations and regulatory systems.
Southbound Connect investors investing through Hong Kong banks will continue to be protected by the relevant investor protection measures in Hong Kong.
With respect to eligible financial products for Southbound Scheme:
In accordance with the Code of Conduct for Licensed Persons/Registered Persons of the Securities and Futures Commission, intermediaries must maintain separate accounts for each client for securities transactions.
Under the Securities and Futures Ordinance, client securities held by an intermediary shall not be seized when a court order or court process document is executed against that intermediary (e.g., when a bank (acting as an intermediary) collapses), this is a protection measure for customers.
If you have any questions, please contact your Hong Kong bank.
