What is the W-8BEN form, and how can I submit it?

The W-8BEN form (should submit together with the Return Sheet) is a requirement of the US Internal Revenue Service ("IRS") for US tax reporting for non-US persons. Non-US persons are subject to US tax (max 30%) on certain types of income received from US sources, such as interest and dividends.

⚠️ The submission of a W-8BEN form will not affect the applicable dividend tax rate (including specifying tax residency status). ZA Bank currently does not support applications for Tax Treaty Benefits. In general, US-sourced income within investment accounts is subject to a standard 30% withholding tax, which is deducted at source prior to dividend distribution.
